Generic User Information
When you visit Weathervane, certain generic user information is collected automatically. This information includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the browser version and type of machine you are using, the URL of the page that referred you, the pages you request, and the date and time you request them. This information is stored in a text file on our server and is referenced only to help us improve the usability of our website.
Personally Identifiable Information
RFF.org collects personally identifiable information only if you provide it in the process of subscribing to our electronic newsletter, The RFF Connection. In this case only, we require you to provide your name and email address. This information will never be shared with a third party.
Cookies
RFF.org uses cookies for full-text search criteria. When you use the Search feature, a cookie that contains the search topic, the number of times you search for the topic, and the time of the search is placed on your browser and in our web server’s memory. As soon as you close your browser, the cookie is deleted from your files. We track search information to help us improve the efficiency of the Weathervane Search Feature and the usability of our site.

Email This Page Feature
Each Weathervane page has a link in the top right corner that allows you to share the page with someone else. This feature is intended to allow you to share Weathervane pages for educational or informational use only. When you use this feature, an email with your email, your optional message, the page's title, its URL, and a short description are sent to the email address you provide. RFF does not share or collect email addresses sent using this feature and you will not recieve any communication sent from us to any address entered in an "Email This Page" message. However, RFF does monitor messages sent using this feature to prevent misuse and does collect information about which pages are being shared to help us improve the usability of our website.
